I have had my rats for about 3 months. I got them at 6 weeks. I take them out multiple times during the day and they are loving but now one of them when I go to touch the inside of the cage or the shavings on the bottom comes running accross or down the cage to bite me.Seems like she is defending the cage but just started to do this. What can I do to stop this behavior?

I've seen multiple posts about this very same situation lately.

Could you answer a few questions?

How many rats do you have?
Are you absolutely sure everyone is the same sex?
What type & size of cage do you have them in?

When she bites, does she break the skin or does she hold onto your finger and pull it with her?

I am sure you have only girls since after 3 months there would be many eepers in your care by now.

Have you tried eeping to let her know she is hurting you and to stop? Is she the dominant girl of the group and is protecting her colony?

You might want to try liquidy treats on a spoon so that she realizes the Big Hand coming into her territory might be a good thing, and the spoon so that she doesn't bite you.
