I'm really curious about this, and no, this is not due to any intention to breed. I find the whole genetics of rex rats and hairless rats to be a little confusing. Could someone break it down for me? I ask because I saw someone on craigslist was giving away two hairless rats, and one of them was a female pregnant with the male's babies. I heard somewhere that two hairless rats create a non-viable litter? That they would die because of some "fatal gene" and that you can only get healthy hairless from breeding two rexes. Is this true? In that case, how do you get a rex?

Any basic explanation for dominant and recessive genes in this would be nice, since I completely forgot what I learned about them in High School!
