Can someone tell me exactly how they covered their FN cages? Did you cut the mesh wire and put it on the inside of the cage or outside? I am assuming I have to really get the covered mesh or the rattie pee will make the metal mesh smell bad after a short while.
I cant wait to get the ratties in this huge cage! :D

i have not had a problem with the mesh and or pee on the mesh. we decided to put the mesh on the inside of the cage. if it was on the outside we were afraid theyd squeeze through and then be stuck between the FN bars and wire meshing. we put ONE solid piece of mesh in from the side, back, to the other side. then the only other pieces were the top, bottom, and doors. it was a pain in the butt to push and bend into place but i had less sharp areas this way. i used small ziplocks to secure it to the FN bars and so far not one has been chewed.

OMG! Maybe I am lame, but I am having a hard time with the mesh covering. I must have done something wrong , as I cant shut the doors now. I think its just the way I have the zip ties on. I will have to deal with it tomorrow as my hands have had just about enough of this for one day. LOL.. my husband said "boy you must really love those rats". All's I can say is my carpel tunnel is not loving them right about now. Ha .. spoiled rotten rattie girls they are.
