Marley has an open wound, i'm not sure how it was caused but it might have been an absess that popped open. I didn't notice any lumps but it's by his genitals and I generally avoid that area when petting him anyway. I took him to the vet (could have stayed home and treated it with neosporin myself but...i can't help but worry there's a thousand things wrong with him) and got some Derma-Vet Ointment for him, and they also rigged him a little e-collar. He does not like it.

He's started to accept that it's there but like when he tries to eat or groom himself he cant reach his face and that makes him really frustrated. Also he can't walk because the collar drags on the ground. His free-range area is out on my bed, and despite having flattened the blankets the collar is getting stuck every step. He loves burrowing in all the blankets and sleeping there, or tucking in my arms and sleeping, but now he's resigned himself to his litter cage and isn't really moving.

He can't properly rest his head down, either, because of the cone being in the way and it's just so hard to watch. But I can't have him licking at the wound either, and i was going to fashion a diaper thing out of a sock, but it needs air to heal, so...

What can I do to keep him from agitating the wound? Its on his belly so when he walks around it's practically dragging around on the blankets (i put down fresh ones). I want to take the collar off but i don't think i'll be able to get it on like the vet did.

What do I do? :/

Here is a picture of him, that porphorin is stuck there because he can't wash it off right. Holding him up to get the ointment on his belly just makes more of it pour out, it's a vicious circle...
