Hey, y'all,

Name's Dan, and I've been a rat enthusiast for several years now, and more generally, a rodent enthusiast for even longer. Through the years, I've had hamsters, gerbils, mice, and degus as well.

But back to rats, for me, everything began when I was given a buck named Zorro by a lass I was frequenting at the time. Her schedule didn't allow enough time to properly care for Zorro, so I took him in, and cared for him. He was a very friendly buck, and I have very fond memories of the quality time I've had with him, and he lived a long, prosper life with me, and eventually succumbed to old age, much to my chagrin. :(

I've been owning rats ever since, and IMO, they are by far the best pets one can own.

At any rate, I look forward to sharing my passion with fellow enthusiasts!

Cheers

A lass you were frequenting? LOL - you make her sound like a pub!

Hello, and welcome. Good on you for taking Zorro in - not everyone would let such an event lead to such a life long love :)
Nice to meet you, sir.

LOL, it does XD To be fair, our schedules at the time were kind of polarizing so it took quite a while before things got serious with her.

I got Zorro when he was about mid-life, so I didn't get as much time with him as I would have liked, but he lived a prosper life, and that's good enough for me.

He was the first, but not last rat I would spontaneously adopt -- I used to work in a train station, and one evening, while I was doing my round, I found a cage on a bench, and as I picked it up to look, a small face poked out and looked at me. Surprised, I took the cage back to the backroom, and gave the little fellow a piece of my beef jerky, which he happily ate. Named him Nostradamus, and brought him back home with me, and he was my best friend until old age claimed him.

At any rate, cheers, y'all, I appreciate the welcome!
