My new gals look like black hooded rats, but they're brown instead of black. Is that called anything?

I think Beezus might be agouti but I can't quite tell with the poor lighting.

Rosie looks more of a chocolate brown. But again, I'm not 100% sure. They both look like they could be brown cow brown.

Agouti is a hair color type where the hair is 'ticked' with more than one color. Do they seem to be many colors? Then they're agouti hoodies.

If not, I'd need much better lighting to tell. 8O

Here is an agouti hooded girl if this helps.

Brown rats if they are really brown are all one colour. Brown rats that are almost black are considered black just a bad black.

If she's got 'highlights' (lol) she is an agouti color. A good standard agouti is a rich brown with black guard hairs. This is the typical wild rat color. There are other 'ticked' agouti colors though like cinnamon, fawn, etc.

'Solid" colors don't have any multi colored hairs. Like black and beige is a solid color. There are brown looking solid colors like mink, chocolate, havana, etc. So, a good picture in natural lighting is bet is you need help typing your rat.
