Heyo! First time rat mum here. We currently have our ratties in our room as it was the only way my parents would let us have em. So sleep be damned we got them. Just now I got woken up by my partner snoring quite loudly and at the same time I could hear a consistent little squeak sound. It was almost repetitive in little sets of 3? I poked my partner to get him to stop snoring and turned the light on.

The squeaking stopped, but I am hoping it was because I turned the light on and disturbed them and not my partners loud snoring scaring the crap outta them. I've been trying to find sound bites to compare the squeaking to to no avail. It almost sounded like a little creaky door squeak. If anyone could help that'd be great. I am really hoping I haven't scared them and that they're not going to be freaked out.

Hi! I am a new rat owner too! When I first got my two rats, my situation was completely different. I had the cage in my bedroom were I slept. My rats are somewhat nocturnal and would wake me up with their noisy wheel. Eventually they mellowed out and run during the day.

In your case, I would try to comfort them or give them an interesting toy/activity to entertain themselves. If nothing works, hopefully they just get used to it? I really hope this helped!

Nah they get used to sounds quite quickly dont worry just carry on, they change their routines around their owners. My rats are always awake when I wake up in the morning and come home from work as they know i'll give them a fuss and a nam

they were probably grooming each other
