Every Time my rat goes into heat she's more energetic and clingy to me but she almost looks like she's scared and agitated.. I let her run around my room to blow off some steam but she still seems agitated.. Is there anything you can do to help them calm down or is it just something they have to go through?

Nope. She's going to stay that way till she hits menopause, so probably around a year to a year and six months. But everyone's girls are different so the time can vary.

You could always get her spayed. Spaying greatly reduces the occurrence of mammary tumors and can extend their lifespan.
