A couple of questions. I just discovered today that one of my girls injured her toe. It looks like she ripped the toenail off. Are there any sorts of topical treatments I can use to put on it to keep it from getting infected? I think it happened a day or two ago. I found a bloody spot in the cage and couldn't figure out where it came from. Finally found the injured toe. What would an infected toe look like, just so I know what to look out for? I haven't had one with an injury before.

ditto. and even though it doesn't taste fabulous, it's also non-toxic. infection will be swelling, stink (you might only notice this if you're close enough to sniff ratty feet, lol), discharge, and unnatural color (think green-purple, etc). your rat will probably also quit using the foot if it's infected since it hurts a ton. good luck with that!

The rat I bought recently ripped off a claw on her left hand. I had no antibiotics handy at the time so I left it overnight. She tended it and it was fine in the morning.

Go with the neosporin of course just in case, but Milly healed up all on her own.
