hello all, first post so hi lol. me and my girlfriend have 2 pet rats, one hairless (cortez) and one furry (bullet). cortez is very calm and will hang out around us and allow us to pick him up, etc.... bullet on the other hand is INSANE(hence the name lol). he is like a wild sewer rat (he isnt really, but acts like one)..he escapes from the cage, takes cover under anything he can, and tries to squirm out of our hands like crazy any time we pick him up. wtf is his deal. we got them both like a month and a half ago and he is absolutely nuts. they get roam time for at least an hour everyday. i hate to say it but he is not even enjoyable as a pet, he is just trouble and never wants any attention. everyday we have to dig him out of some stupid spot like out from behind the fridge lol. is he ever going to chill out??

He should relax soon. Marie was like that at first for like two three months...now she is really calm and sweet. and shes still in the baby/teen stage.

He sounds young...give him time. let him do his thing. find ways to beat his escapin and stuff.

yeah, maybe just let him chill in the cage for a few days? pet him while he's feeling safe in his cage, offer him treats so he knows you're not always there to pick him up and harass him, etc. maybe try a separate play-area that doesn't give him places like behind the fridge to hide? how about a bathroom with some tissue boxes, etc to hide in. the bathroom is a popular choice for play-areas because there aren't usually wires hanging out, holes to disappear into, etc. sit with him in there so he will come play with you (why not, there's nothing else exciting in there...).
