Congress just passed a tax bill (the IRA Charitable Rollover provision) that permanently extends the Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) that lets people age 70½ and older make direct transfers up to $100,000/year to a qualified charity without having to count the transfers as income for federal income tax purposes. Congress has been renewing the provision annually, but on December 18 made it permanent. Consult your tax advisor for more information.
Thanks to the Humane Society of Harford County for this info!
