I just read a bit of info that said that rats, due to their clean behavior, tend to use only one spot of their cage as their bathroom. My rats on the other hand, pee and crap everywhere, sometimes even sleeping on their own crap and getting it stuck in their fur. Is this natural? If so, how do I train them in doing that so its easier to clean their cage?

A litter box helps a LOT. They have these ferret corner boxes that you attach. Fill it with different litter than you use for the bottom of the cage. When they poop outside of it, simply put the poops in the litter box. A lot of people use a pee stone in the litter box which is a rock that the rats like to pee on. I haven't personally tried it, but a lot of people have success with that.
