had my boys since october 21st. they're 'a few' months old.

i'm giving them about 15mg/lb of amoxicillin (fish mox really, mixed with applesauce/babyfood) twice a day, started two days ago. martin has sneezed since day one, otis started sneezing about a week later. little to no porphyrin. they seem ok behaviour-wise. but i fear i can't tell the difference between otis getting more comfortable with me and otis becoming lethargic. for instance, i can pick him up now if necessary, like i did today while cleaning the cage. but he sleeps a loooot. this is a video of him making weird noises.

please turn up your speakers if necessary and give me some advice. i am growing increasingly worried :(

If it were my girls I would prob try to take them into a vet. We tried one girl from the petstore when our rat journey began that made an almost identical noise. We took her back in and they said she was sick and made us get a refund for her.. I don't think it was anything super serious but the sounds I hear on your video are almost identical. I didn't think too much of it at first bc she didn't have any other symptoms until I read on rat whisperer that rats should be silent. Check out the videos on his site.. Keep us posted on how it goes

he's gotten worse.

i need to call a vet, yes. i'm afraid he's going to die suddenly overnight. :'( should i order something like this, can it be used for rats just like the fish mox? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fish-Health...568868?hash=item19fd1ab724:g:c-sAAOSwu4BV6Jsp

i work the next two days, then it's the weekend, so i'd probably not even get a chance to bring him to a vet before monday. and i don't even know my work schedule until tomorrow.

he looks like he's gasping occasionally and it's really really freaking me out because my rabbit did that right before he died. :(

Well just take things a day at a time which is all you can really do... thankfully he isn't worse so hopefully that is a good sign.

i think he is getting better slowly! i'm going to weigh both the boys soon so i can make sure they're gaining and not losing, which i'm not worried about - sometimes i feel like they grow noticeably overnight! continuing with the amoxi. thankyou for your concern, rattytriplet <3
