If there's nobody in your area, can't you ask your local RSPCA or somewhere similar if they'd be willing to let you take one home to try? That way, if they get along you keep em, if they don't you take them back.

EDIT: Actually, thinking about it, the RSPCA might not a good idea unless your mum will give you a few weeks to try, as you'll need to do quarantining and such...

hmm, how old is Roobs? It could possibly be a hormone issue that's making him agrressive to the other rats, and if that's the case then your best bet is to get him neutered.

Yeah, probably having him neutered would be best. I fear I may have to have my Odin snipped D: He's been attacking Bert on intros and he even bit at Chris the other day D: He NEVER bites at me and Chris very rarely messes with the rats so he doesn't really know Chris. He also bites at ferrets and cats when the put their noses up to the cage (I watch closely to see that doesn't happen when the ferrets are out and the cats have learned better)

it may have been part due to them being his own sons but i place my money on them being babies over blood relation. most adult rats will take to babies much easier then another adult rat. but the key here is proper introductions. let them dictate the pace but start slow and go back a step if you have to.
