Hey, I'm trying to find a place to order a big bag of lab blocks online because I've gotten sick of buying the little bags at the evil chains. Anyone know a good site?

You can go to their website and contact them about shipping and sizes. Depending on the ages of your rats you either want the 2014 or 2018

If you have young rats (8 months or younger) it would be the 2018

Older rats (8 months and older) it would be 2014

here is where you can go to contact them - http://www.teklad.com/contact.html

If you order direct from them, and pick it up at one of their locations or have it shipped from HT, you must have a $100 minimum order. They're not set up for small orders (which is what most rat owners would need, unless you're feeding a lot of rats).

However, you can order it at a few places online.

I use Mazuri rodent breeder. Have you asked the managers of the feed stores around you? If there is a Purina deeler near you they should be able to get you Mazuri or Lab Diet. Both made by Purina.

Lab DIet is horrid for rats I knew someone who used that and I looked up the info and it was the most disgusting ingredients in the world the third or fourth down was chicken by products, animal fat, and something else that was terrifying. The protien percent is also sky high.

you can buy bigger bags of nutro n choice lite! I don't know the exact size but since it's a dog food it comes in the larger bags at a petco or petsmart (I don't remember which one, or if they both have it)

Lab Diet come in a very wide variety of formulas. Each formula is designed what research/animals need it for.

Here is the link to all their rat and mouse diets. I didn't see what you were talking about Stephanie.
Harlen Teklad and Purina brands are the best staple rodent diets. They are huge competitors. The largest/best research company in the World uses Lab Diet products.

I'm with Stephanie. The Lab Diet rat formula is not the best. What's absurd is that they include alfalfa, which has no nutritional value for rats, not to mention they don't digest it well. Why on earth would they include it? Some of it's not so bad, but it certainly isn't the best lab block out there. Just the fact that it has alfalfa in it is enough for me to steer clear.

Ground corn, dehulled soybean meal, ground wheat, fish meal, wheat middlings, brewers dried yeast, cane molasses, wheat germ, dried beet pulp, dehydrated alfalfa meal, ground oats, dried whey, soybean oil, ground soybean hulls, calcium carbonate, casein, salt, dicalcium phosphate, choline chloride, DL-methionine, cholecalciferol, vitamin A acetate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, dl-alpha tocopheryl acetate, thiamin mononitrate, nicotinic acid, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin, cyanocobalamin, folic acid, manganous oxide, zinc oxide, ferrous carbonate, copper sulfate, zinc sulfate, calcium iodate, cobalt carbonate

Rodent diet has 20.1 percent and the 5012 (rat diet) hs 22.5 I can't pull the ingredients up for the 5012 but they are worse than these! Would you want to eat fishmeal?? Do you know what tose other ingredients are??
