My one year old boy decided to give me a heart attack this morning. I went to give the boys their breakfast and he was on the bottom level of the cage, where he never goes on his back asleep! After a moment of panic I realized he was asleep! Why would he do this?

Lol, aw. It's probably comfortable for him. I catch my boys sleeping like that occasionally.

He looked at me like I was crazy when I woke him up in a panic

It can be comfort or, if he is overheating, they let excess heat out through the palms of their paws.
