Ok, as some of you know im going to get 2 female rats from the shelter soon. (im so excited) I am planning on litter training them.

So how do you litter train them? I have heard of putting poop in their litter to give them the idea of it. But are there any different ways? All ways are accepted here lol. More ways the better :D

Thanks - Austin

Hey Austin,

I use these:

In a corner of my ratties cage, with a little kitty litter in it (to deodourise). I put their poops in, when they did them around the cage. Edgar always did his business in the tray anyway, I don't know why (I think he just preferred being neat!) but it took a while with Addo.

Keep at it and they'll get it! Edgar even pees in the tray!

Oh i Bet that is helpful that he pees in there too :D. Thanks for your help. I thought that was the way you trained them.
How long did it take your rats to be trained?

Addo is STILL useless at it, he is 6 months old (we got him at 6 WEEKS)... but he's getting better.

Edgar has done it since day one, of his own accord!
