A friend of mine has two cages of boys. One is hers and the other is a cage she is watching for another friend for the Christmas break at their college. Her boys are free range since they chewed through the plastic base to their cage a month or so ago. It hasn't really been a problem until now. One of her boys was climbing the outside of the cage she is babysitting and one of them took a swipe at him, which has happened before. This time, though, they got his eye. I just want to know what to do to take care of it. Hot water and soap? Antibiotics? He gets around fine and doesn't seem to mine but it is raw and pink.

Me personally i'd take them to the vet, I would think self grooming might help but it could get infected very easily which could end badly. Pretty much anything bad that happens to my rats (which isn't excessive) I take them to the vet so I have a sure answer on what to do. But someone else might say something otherwise!!
(I'm just an over-concerned ratty mom haha)
