Most humane way to kill a rat?

One of my rats has developed a tumor. For the past week I have been having to put water in a bowl to get it to drink and it has not been eating the past few days.

I am tired of seeing it suffering but I cannot afford to take it to the vet to have it put down. I'd estimate this rat could live a maximum of another week.

What is the most humane way of killing it? I have ruled out freezing it, but drowning it and running over it are still on the table... any other ideas?

It's times like these that I wish I owned a snake.

Do NOT drown or run it over 8O ... you need a vet! How could you even think about doing that to your pet?

If you have any better ideas I'd like to hear them.

The last time I checked, vets don't offer their services for free.

It's a HUMANE way, worth paying for your pet to end his/her life peacefully. There may be centres around that offer free treatment depending on your circumstances.

That's all good and fine but I have $2.86 in my bank account right now. Hmm, I wonder what vet will kill my rat for that price :roll:

I mentioned certain places may for free actually. I don't even think your post is real tbh.

Call the vets and tell them your situation. Ask them if they would do you the service to have your pet humanely put down for free or on a payment plan.
