Labor Day weekend, I'm going to be adding two 5 week old girls to my rattie family :D Although it'll be a couple weeks until they come home, yesterday I set up my small Coast Cage for them to live in during quarantine/intro period. I am quite surprised with how much I like this cage now, and I think it'll be really nice for two little girls! I wanted to share since I remember someone asking about this particular cage.

One of the things I always hated (other than the wheel), was the lack of room on the bottom. So I took off the lower ramp and turned it into a mini-level. I made the level covers out of an old cotton robe, and used it and some fabric scraps to make a little pillow to go in the tissue box. They'll probably end up pulling the pillow out and tossing it aside, but the chance that they might like sleeping on it makes it worth it!

It's very girly and pink, and I love it! :D

For some cuteness, here are my girls, at 3 weeks old a few days ago:

This girl was "supposed" to be blue, since I claimed a blue girl the day after they were born, but now that she's furry she looks black to me. I asked, but haven't gotten a response yet. Apparently, she won't sit still for a picture :D I named her Ayame ^_^

I didn't decide to adopt this one until I saw a picture of her with Ayame, before any of them had hair, and I fell in love with her zigzag stripe! I haven't thought of a name for her yet, but isn't she adorable?

This is too creepy! It's a seriously small world.

I was the one who asked about that particular cage, I kept eyeing it at PetCo. I really like what you did with the ramp and turning it into a mini level, I think I'll keep that in mind for my own cage when it comes in a week.

AND... I recognize that baby! I was going to adopt two of the sisters from that litter, and had actually coveted those two exact ratties (with the backwards S and the solid girl), until I was told they were already reserved. But it turns out I don't have a ride down to the Cities anymore (I'm going to school in Grand Forks), so I had to pass on my two, sadly.

But that's too weird. You have the cage I'm getting and the rats I wanted!

Wow! That IS really weird! I wonder what the universe is trying to say with that one?

I actually had to put that cage to use already since Kismet came to me very unexpectedly, and it was already set up. It is really nice, especially for babies, because they're small enough that the cage is roomy for them. None of my bigger girls have been in it, but with good use of the space and the little ramp-shelf I think two of them could live comfortably in there, as long as they get plenty of outside time ^_^
