Hi and so sorry to hear about your beautiful boy Theodore.
Every now and then you hear about a rat who can't live with other rats, and manages to have a great life anyway as a lone rat. For some reason I notice this seems to work better with males, perhaps because of their personalities.
From what you say, it sounds to me like he had a great life, and the enrichment he got was going everywhere with you and having lots of different experiences.
I'm so sorry he got sick - he sounds like one of those rats that you don't come across every day. 💗

He really was he a special guy thank you all my other rats definitely have companions but he loved his life i could feel it he got to do and see so many things i loved him with everything i have and i know he loved me back i hope his life didnt make him unhappy because it really didnt seem like it but i just kept being told that and it started to get to me if he was unhappy then why was he always smiling and licking me he seemed to have so much joy even when he got sick he just had so much love in his heart despite the aggression twords my others
Remember, the reason we recommend giving rats a buddy is to improve their quality of life and make them HAPPY.
But your rat wasn't happy with other rats - shown by his agression towards them - so for him the best quality of life was living his best life with you. He looks like a right character.:)
