Hi everyone

So i was told I have 2 girl rats, however i’ve just checked 3 weeks in on pepper and i’m not too sure, but i’m a new rat mum so i wouldn’t know
Pickles is currently in heat and pepper keeps trying to mount her, pickles is kicking her away and stuff and not letting it happen but i just want to double check because i could not do babies right now. Is pepper definitely a girl?? (she’s about 9 weeks)

I forgot to add pepper does have what i think are nipples when i check under the fur. I really hope pepper isn’t a boy ):

I'm honestly not 100% sure (the pic is blurry to me) but I would say female, especially since you said you can see nipples. It's totally normal for females to hump each other. Pepper trying to mount Pickles does not necessarily indicate Pepper is male.

Hmm... I see your dilemma. That does kinda look like it could be a scrotum, but it should be more developed by this age, I think? Just to be on the safe side I would probably separate them until you can tell for sure.

Definitely a girl as her parts are close to the anus and that definatly looks like a litttle rat moo to me! Girlies get very rampant when on heat and as there are no males about they have to,ahem,” help each other out”

I think it is a girl however the only two rats that I have ever had are 100% female so I would not be the best resource. If you see nipple then that means that it is most likely female and it is in fact nipples. If you could get a picture of the nipples I’m sure there are people here who could confirm they are nipples.

Is there a hole directly under the urethra (where they pee)? If so, that is the vagina, meaning its a girl.

Usually by this time, they have grown or started to grow they testies. Which believe me, you can’t miss. (Lol) with there being nipples and no treaties, I would say female most definitely
