I'm wanting to have my ratties out for free run time. Right now they run on me while I'm at the computer and on the couch. I want the let them run all over the floor but I need to partition off part of the living room. Best ways to do this? I've heard of MDF and Particle board but am having a hard time finding stuff I can afford (at $7-15 per board I need 4-5 boards). I have a dog pen for them but the bar spacing is too big and I'd have to modify it (tried many things with it so far none of which have really worked). Please please please help!

Some people use large pieces of cardboard, from like, appliance boxes. Other people have found coroplast (usually found at sign shops, can also be used for cage bottoms in homemade cages) to be really useful. And it's probably cheaper and lighter than particle board.

I'll have to look around for the coroplast. Just not sure where to find all this stuff

You can easily get large cardboard boxes from many stores; often you just have to ask. The Dapper rat has a homemade rat run that's easy and very cheap to make.
