I haven't even gotten my rats yet but, after seeing some forums on this, I plan to replace my rats cage (plastic base) when I get the money (I just spent it all on them, lol). What cage should I get? I don't use fleece so it has to have a deep base and that kills CN's. Bonus points for links.

I'm not familiar enough with the different cages, but I was under the impression that the Critter Nation is like the Ferret Nation except for bar spacing. Are there other differences? I thought the scatter guard would work in the CN too.

I use Borris and litter boxes, so I have no knowledge of scatter guards.

The scatterguard should work for both. They are about the same cage except for bar spacing. You definitely want the critternation not the ferret.

This cage from petsmart is also similar to the critternation:

I have a martins and love it.

if u get a martins u have to get it powdercoated. I think 680+ are suitable I wanna say.

You can also get cement mixing tubs from like home depot that you can put inside the critternation. i've done it and found it not that easy, I had to cut the tubs personally.

What Martins do you have? Are the levels meshed? Isn't that unsafe?

You can cover the levels linoleum or fleece. Personally, I prefer the double doors of the CNs and FNs compared to the smaller doors of the Martins... But the Martins can also fit inside the shower for a spray down depending on which you get.
