I just adopted my first three boys about a week ago. Theyre doing fine and are active, though still a bit skittish (but that is to be expected). Yesterday I changed the top layer of their bedding and did a quick sweep to clean the dirtiest parts of their cage and now one of my boys started sneezing a lot. He is fine in every other way and had no problem breathing or porphyrin. I use hemp bedding that should be dust free, but I dont know if he could be allergic to it? Its just the one that sneezes so I’m a bit confused. Is it just some new rat sneezes or is something else going on and should I take him to a vet? Anyone that can help me?

Its normal for new ratties to sneeze. I wouldn’t be too worried. 💛

Any new rat I add to my collection always gets the sneezes. If it's combined with a wheeze and gets a lot of red colored stuff can't remember the name lol around the nose and eyes you might want to take to a vet for some meds. Sometimes they get sick during travel and can get over it quickly. Sometimes it becomes more of a problem and they need some antibiotics.
