Hi everyone I'm new to this forum!

I've had 2 females for about 6 months now and it took them a little while but now they get along great! one of them is a hooded and the other is a solid colored dumbo. I just got a buck today and put him in their cage and my hooded rat started pushing him around with her hand on his face..is she threated by him? I dont see why because he seems really depressed

oh goodness i can see a war flaming up herealready. OK first of all quarrantine means to keep them seperate to aviod death by sickness for at lest two weeks more proerly three. And no you shouldn't breed them get him nueteed and then do introductions two weeks after ward. You have no idea how fast they breed or how many they have. You don't know the ramifications of how irresponsible and ignorant you aer being right now!

Everything.
there are already way too many rats in circulation as it is. By breeding rats you're contributing to the already over populated population of pet rats. Not every person is like the people here, apt and ready to take care of their pets.. most people who buy rats sadly buy them as feeder animals or on impulse, then after getting bored with them they discard of them via shelters or reptile owners/pet stores. Its not a wise thing, for you or the rat, plus your females could die giving birth if i'm not mistaken 6months is like borderline too old for breeding no?

Copied from wikipedia!

"Ignorance is a lack of knowledge. Ignorance is sometimes misinterpreted as a synonym of stupidity, and is as thus often taken as an insult."

You are new at this there for you are ignorant!!

and I agree with everything that renay says. Breeding is a huge no no! unless you are an experienced breeder and have done your research. Rats go into heat every 5 days or so and they can get pregnant immediately after giving birht to a litter which means that every month you could have 30 extra rats on your hands since you have two females. Where would you be "dropping the pups off" at? A rescue? a petstore? a snake's stomach?. If it is a rescue then you will find that most rescues will turn you away since you knowingly bred them and as far as a petstore goes you really want babies to be eaten? Think about it now go and take your male rat out of the cage and go get him neutered. if he is nuetered he can live happily with the girls AFTER proper introductions have been done.

yeh..neutered or atleast seperated and with a friend, if you take him out now you may not have any problems on your hands.. And if you're interested in rat breeding you should look up breeders in your area and find one that would be willing to mentor you and teach you the "do's and don'ts" of breeding. And I agree with Stephanie that you are ignorant, don't worry, i'm still ignorant about some things to, like everything else, it takes time to learn the right ways to care for rats.

Please dont breed for fun. Its not a good idea. Unless you intend on gettin two HUGE cages and splittin boys and girls and caring for 18+ rats...and your friends may say " i want one" bt most of hte time, people back out last minute.

They WILL reproduce, as these other posters have told you.
