Sorry if theres already a topic on this. i searched and couldnt find it though.

My rat found out a few months ago how to open the cage door, using her hands and nose together. i now have to lock it with a metal ring similar to a keychain but with a clasp. it works but its kind of a pain. does anyone else have this problem? possibly with better solutions?

What if you just switched to an easier to open clasp thing? Like a carabineer?

binder clips. my oldest girl used to do that, in her old cage, and i bent all the wires to try and keep the doors shut- no luck. so i figured out that a binder clip, pinched from the outside of the cage, can hold the top wire of the door to the cage.

i wasn't even really mad when mine did it. to tell you the truth, i was kind of impressed. but sometimes, for their sake, we need to keep our rats' intelligence in check.
