Gus is about to go to the vet for the third time in under a year.
I feel so bad for my poor little baby. What baffles me is that I have no idea what is causing these infections. Beadle is in the same environment and doesn't have any issues.

I've put an air filter in the room because the vet suggested that he might have really bad allergies. He gets children's benadryl once a day, and I change their litter every week.

Has anyone else had the same problem with their rat? What else can I do to help him?

It's myco. Some rats are more sensitive than others. There's also the problems of repeat infections; not only can they become resistant to treatment but over the course of myco's life it causes lung damage and abscesses. Damaged airways make recurrent infections more likely.

I would say, three times in a year isn't terrible. Plus, as long as he responds to medicine then you're still good.
