Hello,

I work with the Give More campaign which launched last week, a 12 month campaign to encourage people to give more money, time or energy to charitable causes in the next year and to get us all talking more about giving. You can find out more about the campaign here: www.givemore.org.uk.

As part of our launch, we've done some interesting polling on the attitudes of pet owners towards giving to charity.

It shows that rodent owners are more likely (4%) compared to the rest of the population (UK 3%) to be most passionate about sex. They are also five times more likely (5%) to be ‘most passionate’ about good causes than the rest of the population (UK 1%).

Does owning a rodent make you more likely to give to charity? And if so what causes do you care about most? We'd love to hear your views.

I do donate pet food to the local shelter. I keep coupons and when the food goes on sale, I buy. Not a whole lot but every bit helps. On a sunday afternoon, when I have nothing to do ,I visit the Inmates and leave my package of goodies. Cheers me up.

One more thing, I have to keep a solid consituion not to bring them all home.

I volunteer once a week at my local animal shelter. I also donate half bags of lab blocks because my two girls could never eat all that before it goes bad, even when I freeze it. I routinely compile rattie information and send it to the shelter higher ups to try and improve the care that the shelter rats get. Also I try to donate anything I don't use that's still in good condition to the local Goodwill charity. Clothes, furniture, etc. I'm not a very frugal person haha I tend to overbuy and then donate the extra stuff when I realize i don't need it.

This is so interesting! I am a High School student, so I don't have extra money to donate. However, I've helped out at our local foodshare, and I do volunteer work at and give blankets and stuff to a Humane Society. I also have multiple issues that I am so passionate about that I could give my life for.

I also volunteer at my local shelter, and I love donating things (food and clothing mostly). But, I've always been that way, and I only just recently became a rat owner.

...I wonder if the OP posted similar versions of this on forums for other types of pets :D
