so i feel really bad for leaving my boys home all day while i work. i usually let them run around on my bed with an old blanket covering everything but i was tired of cleaning up the messes they made, and even one of them tried to escape -- he almost did, too.

today at work someone asked me to take these huge boxes out to the dumpster so of course, i asked if i could take them home since i had seen people attach boxes to each other to create a playpen.

so that's exactly what i did.

does anyone have any suggestions as to what else i could make for them to play with? i have a couple extra smaller boxes but they mostly just ran around the perimeter and dug around in the food bowl to carry little pieces of it to different corners and then repeat the process. the cardboard playpen is so big that i can sit in the middle of it and they still have plenty of room to run around.

I took home a ton of boxes from work and did the same exact thing that you did! Get a feather wand. 4 out of 5 of my rat ladies are obsessed with the feather wand and its a lot more fun in the playpen because there's more space to run around chasing it. You can always stash some of the smaller boxes and use one until it gets gross, then swap it out. I've been considering getting vinyl flooring or something and just setting it on top of my carpet so I don't need to keep washing/replacing the fleece.
