I got 2 rats yesterday from pets at home i had them checked out by their vet and he said they were fine but last night 1 of them started sneezing and is still doing it today. Is there something wrong?

Rats do sneeze quite a lot, especially when they are taking in all the new scents, getting used to their new environment. Just keep an eye on them for a couple of days, and they should start to settle down.

Bedding is important - be sure not to be using pine or cedar as this is very bad for rats and their breathing.

Apart from that, just monitor them over the next couple of days. If you start to see quite a bit of red around their eyes or nose, or they start sneezing more or showing other signs of something not being right, then I would get them checked by an independent vet. I'm sure they'll be just fine, though :)

Mycoplasmosis is certainly a possibility, but I think it might be a bit soon to be worrying about that, considering they have only been in their new home for one day?

I agree with xampx that it would be wise to read up a bit on the different problems that rats can have - it will certainly help you know what to look out for and to know when you need to start worrying. As you get to know your rats you will also learn to recognise when something is not quite right. For now, though, in my opinion, I wouldn't panic just yet.

it probably has myco, its common in rats. Theres a lot of other people who have rats with Myco on this forum, check some of the other posts for various advice
Umm...all rats have Mycoplasmosis. It is inherent in all our pet rats. But stresses and a depressed immune system allow the myco to flare up and a secondary infection come in.

Most new rats will sneeze a bit when they get home. I call it the New Home Sneezies. IF the sneezes don't stop in a 3-5 days or get worse and you see a lot of porphryin (red fluid on their eyes and nose) or any wheezing or crackling when they breathe, they are sick and will need a vet and antibiotics.

I would just make sure the bedding is safe, and give it a week or so to get used to its new home. I treat early signs of Myco with echinacea, it tends to boost their immune system and i havent had any real problems.

Sorry about the last post, i was in work and had to rush it. It came across a little abrupt.
