Didn't go well.
The lump is still there; it's obvious. I can clearly see it.
They didn't remove it. And that op cost me £90 =/
What should I do ?
Also, she's not taking her medicine. I'm supposed to mix it with her drinking water, which I did. She's just not drinking it. Also, she's in an -awful- lot of pain... She lies stretched out, but in a crouched way, and won't come out of her tube. I had to pick her up out of it and she squeaked (which she never does) and then wee'd all over the place. Anything I can do ?

how long ago was the operationÉ often there is fluid build up in the dead space where the lump was so for a bit it may look like they didn`t actually remove anything. what does the lump feel like nowÉ

as for helping her with her pain i dont really know aht you could do. mayb emake her a hot water bottle to curl up to if she wants. fill a water bottle or small pop bottle with hot water then wrap it in a towel. put it in the cage with her and show it to her so she knows it there. then its up to her if she wants to use it or not.

medicine mixed in drinking water isn`t normally recommended for rats. you can`t really tell if they`re getting the full dose and often the taste difference will make the rats go off the water. empty the bottle out of the medicated water and fill it with normal fresh stuff. then go to the vet and tell them you want the stuff you can give to her orally. what medication is she on anywayÉ what`s it forÉ

note: the comp is screwing up a bit so the ``É`` is actually a question mark. i hate the new windows program... *sigh*

Wow! I would go back and COMPLAIN. They didn't remove the lump and they gave you medicine in drinking water! Both huge WOAAH! signs to me D:

Go back and complain, hope you get some or all of your money back and find a new vet is all the advice I can give you. I know it's hard sometimes but I hope you can.

The medicine is Baytril; I put some in an Oatabix for her last night and she took that. I don't want to feel the lump just yet, because she's still very sore with it... The op. was on thursday, and she's in for a check up on tuesday so I'll ask then; my mum said that the lump could be scar tissue but I doubt it.

if they didn't remove the lump they are legally liable to tell you so, because it's unethical for them to charge you for a surgery and not do it. the lump could be fluid, but it's also likely that they are internal, absorbable stiches. from the outside they can be kind of lumpy. i really doubt that they would take your rat in for surgery, not remove the tumor, not tell you, and charge you for it anyway, but that's just me.

let us know how she's doing tomorrow, and def after her check-up tuesday. and to be honest, even with the best pain meds, you aren't going to feel your best after surgery. still, def see if you can get some pain meds, esp the oral kind. good luck!
