here is a question. well the lady at the pet store told me when i was getting food for my rat that they can have just plain lab blocks for their food. no mix just lab blocks. but on the bag of lab blocks i bought [intended for snacks everyday] it said it is a treat not a food. what do i do? my rat loves the lab blocks. could he live on just those with fruits and veggies?

What's in it? Can you list the ingredients for us?

Either way, variety is the spice of life, and wouldn't it get boring to eat the same thing day after day? I say the more different foods you can give them, the better off they'll be. (As long as basic nutritional requirements are being met, of course)

Blocks are good because the rats cannot pick and chose certain pieces and eat only them (such as only the seeds or only the corn or whathaveyou) which isn't a balanced diet. However, snacks with the block adds variety and keeps them happy...

What block did you get?
