I've been reading the info here on high-whites and Megacolon and I'm a little confused. I understand about early onset and late onset but I'm confused about who exactly is at risk. One article talked about white blazed being particularly at risk and this makes me worry about my Buffy. I'm a new rat owner so I don't know all the color variations yet but isn't she a white blazed?

She's about 4 1/2 months old now and very healthy, so would you say that we are out of the woods for Megacolon by now?

She is hw but she is out of the risky area. Late onset can occur but it isn't likely.

That's good to know! I'm actually relieved I didn't know about it before I got her or I would've been worrying the whole time rather than enjoying her crazy antics. I do tend to be a worrier especially when it comes to my babies, so in this instance, ignorance was bliss!

Oh and just FYI- the girls mother was a PEW and their dad was a solid grey dumbo. All the babies came out dumbos with dark eyes and both grey and white fur. There were no solid color babies and no PEWs in the litter. It was an accidental litter of 9 and I got all 4 girls. Three of my girls are grey hooded and Buffy is the only white faced blaze.
