I just got my rats today. From petco. I know this is frowned upon but I get so sad for all the poor animals stuck there and have to save them from living in too small cages with no friends.
Anyways, we got them home and they are settling into their home nicely.
But... they are sneezing.
I read the sticky and know that this could be a number of things as they are new. One thing did startle me..
• If they are allergic or sensitive to something in your home, such as cigarette smoke, perfume, soap, certain shampoos, carpet shampoo, dust, other animals, etc.
I have two cats and a hedgehog.
What will happen if the boys are allergic to one of my other pets?

Thank you.

Your rat is unlikely to be allergic to your other pets, to be honest I would rule out the usual first. Bedding is a classic one, as is the stress of moving to a new home.

Rats are much like humans in there ability to get minor viruses and bacterial infections too. I would monitor them and if they seem unwell (so any of fluffed coats, hunched posture, noisy breathing, excessive porphyrin etc) then get them to the vets and on antibiotics asap.
