I decided that the cage I had was not big enough for my ratties so I got a garret cage that I thought had small enough bar spacing. However between my two girls miss moo, the younger one is only about 4 months old and can get out through the wires. My older one remmie seems like she is too big because I have seen her chewing on the bars in frustration as miss moo is making her escape. Suggestions on rat proofing the cage would be greatly appreciated!

You can buy things like chicken wire to put over the cage

1/2" hardware cloth is the easiest thing to use. I'm not sure if chicken wire comes in different sizes, but I'm fairly certain my smallest girl could squeeze through it, plus it's not as nice to look at as the hardware cloth. I used zip ties to attach the wire to my cage and it has worked just fine for almost 2 years.
