Helloo!

I'm a bit bored and want to discuss rats AND happened to have a question in mind!
Have your rats' sleeping schedules changed at all to work with yours better? Because I've heard that that's a thing, but I don't know. And it's kinda hard because at least mine haven't now in two weeks and that's difficult because they are awake like.. once during the day for some time, not always and then they get up at like.. 11pm so like.. how do you guys even see your rats ever?? Luckily I'm a night owl anyway so I see them quite a bit but my boyfriend for example basically never sees them up because he works normal hours during the day and has to go sleep early.

My rats are mostly awake during the day and asleep at night, because after they were used to me when I first got them, I played with them A LOT.

My rats sleep during the day but when I wake up at 7am I go to their cage right away and take off the cover over it and they up their mess from the night and give them cheewios and tell them ill see them in a couple hours. Then at around 10am I go see them and they wake up and come to the cage when they hear me walk by and they know their routine lol. They are out for an hour or.so then back to the cage where they sleep. I will go say hi a few times throughout the day and give them scritches and rubs while they sleep and they love it they chitter chatter and come running to grab my sweater when I go.to pull my arm out
Then at 730pm to 930pm its free range time. Then around 11pm I put the cover over their cage to give them privacy throughout the night from my cat . I make them new homemade toys and foraging things every night so they have things to do.in the night. Anywaus I know I wrote a lot but I thought i would share my girls routine 😊

So.. if I understood that right (probably not but one can hope), would it help if I'd try to spend more time with them during the day time when they are awake (but I just don't always catch them awake during day time so that can be hard) and less during like.. midnight and later in the night, so they could learn that it's more beneficial being awake during the day more? AAAND maybe even feed them their veggies during the day rather than the night?? Or is this just something I can't do anything about and just have to wait and see??

Yes those are some good ideas!!
Switch the veggies from night to middle of the day, and practice giving treats as you walk by cage( do this often if you can!!) and maybe hang out by their cage for a bit if you can, like play on your phone. That way they hear and see you they will be more curious and more alert. They will.come around in no time!!!

Yaay great, thank you!! I will for sure start doing these things from now on so that they'd hopefully start being awake more during the day and my boyfriend could see our babies more too 😅🧡

Mine are up in the morning around 8:00 because I feed them then they stay up until 9:30-ish so they can have free roam time while I do school work. They sleep from 10:00am to 4:30pm then I get them out and play with them again until 6 or 7 depending on how tired I am. Then they play until like 2am and sleep from 2-7:30am.

Very interesting! Hoping something similar for my girls too!

Then I get back from school and they are awake for free roaming time Which is usually around 4:00pm till around 5 or 6 . Then they go to sleep while I’m having dinner lol . they wake up at about 8 or 9pm because it’s their feeding time ! And once they have had their food and a play around they go to sleep from around 10pm till 7am !

That sounds great! I feel like I'm already doing some progress in just a couple of days because I've gotten them to be quite a bit active during the day already and I've also gone to bed earlier myself so I wouldn't spend quite as much time with them during the night!
