How long should rat's teeth generally be?

Providing they meet each other and they can eat properly, I'd think that they're fine. Some rats have been known to grind their teeth very short.

I'll tell you this, if the rat's teeth are too long you'll definitely know. They'll be bent crooked and just look really weird and long. And they can get that way in only two weeks!

Top teeth should be around 1/4 inch, bottom teeth should be around 1/2 inch.

Just curious, why do you ask? Do you think you have a problem?
