is yellow the teeths natural color, or is it tartar?

it's a natural color and i think also natural for their top teeth to be darker than their bottom teeth. their teeth also grow a darker yellow with age.

When they're adults their teeth will probably be a good, healthy orange. :)

I think their teeth grow too fast for things like plaque and tarter to be problems. :)

I've read that if a rat doesn't have the orange on their teeth(which is the enamel I think) then it is a bad sign. The orange on the outside is the enamel and the white in the center is softer and needs the protection.

I'm pretty sure that's what I read....
