Hey guys! I just redid my rat cage and wanted to get your opinions on it and if you think I should add anything :) I use aspen bedding for them and just added this bigger bin for them to forage in because before it was like a quarter (not even) or the size and they couldn’t dig around a lot. I felt bad but I finally upped it! What do you think? They seem to like it a lot they’re super excited. I also added this big tube for them to crawl into
Light Automotive tire Gas Basket Mesh

Wood Gas Pet supply Mesh Metal

Wood Brickwork Rectangle Facade Tints and shades

Wood Art Font Mesh Metal

I have three boys in here:) their names are Pfizer, Moderna, and Juan lol

Seems like your rats get a lot of exercise with everything they have to climb on or dig in! Not to mention they have unique names that make them stand out (and I find the idea of a vet calling out ‘Are Pfizer, Moderna and Juan here for their appointment today?’ somewhat amusing).

As for what you could add to their cage, maybe you could try hiding treats in their digging box, if they don’t also use it as a toilet. Or a larger platform near the top as a sort of resting point, in case somebody becomes unable to climb around easily for whatever reason. Otherwise, their cage seems amazing!

omg it looks so cool! do you spot clean the bin thing or the whole cage? im curious i may do mine similarly!
Thank u!!! I usually clean the whole cage completely once a week maybe once every two weeks depending on the smell and how much they poop and how dirty it gets but I do daily spot cleans since their pee smells so bad + it’s bad for their lil lungs

since the bin is so big now tho I’ll probably be able to change the entire bedding every two weeks (+ they Do have a little box and tend to poop there usually)

thank you so much <3 their names are super silly everyone always laughs at them HAHA. Believe it or not but Pfizer is the biggest dick head too he ALWAYS bites me. I think his name is kind of fitting since Pfizer is one of the biggest pharma’s lol. Also they are pretty active and I’m glad to say they are not obese considering they love to eat a lot! I see a lot or big rats online and I’m scared for them to get there bc Ik it’s so unhealthy. I used to have a wheel in there for them (I actually bought a custom wheel that is HUGE for like $180) but they never use it!! :( so I took it out lol. It was just collecting pee. They are also very shy rats and hate coming out of their cage so I try to give them as much things to dig around in and climb on etc. also I do use the bin for feeding (as well as other little hiding spots) to make food time an activity for them ☺

However I def want to get more wooden platforms!! Do u have any recommendations for where to buy them? They’re always expensive and too small and Amazon kind of sucks for buying them :( when they get older tho I still have large dividing platforms that the cage came with and I’ll put those back in once I notice them slowing down (hopefully that won’t be for a while tho still, they’re almost one now)

I mostly use hammocks for my rats (they love ones they can hide in), so I can’t really help you finding a good quality, inexpensive bridges for your rats.
Organism Insect Font Worm Fish

I have one of these (but a bit smaller), it that helps. My boys only really use it sparingly from what I’ve seen and I’ve had it over a year or two now, so I can’t tell you how much wear and tear it can take.

Shame they didn’t want to use the wheel, maybe they didn’t think it was very secure and it wobbled around quite a bit.
