Hello everyone!
Since my rats cagemate died, I'm looking into getting her another companion. However, she's two years old, so I wasn't sure if I needed to get another rat around her age, or if I could get a youngster? Advice needed! Thank you!

Most people suggest getting a rat that is at least 10 weeks old when placing them with adults. I've done as young as 9 weeks, however and had no real trouble with it. Just remember that younger rats have more energy and tend to 'annoy' older rats who may be more laid back and less active. If you could, I think getting a rat around 6 months would probably be a good idea.

I would get two if you have the room, so the young one won't be left alone.
