Would the dryer be too loud for my rats? The door will be kept open, and there will be fans and air purifiers keeping the air moving. But I'm wondering if the dryer will startle them every time it's running? It's a new dryer and not any louder than a normal dryer..

Adding on because I would like to know what other people say. I've had my rats in the laundry for several months as it's the only room we can shut my dog out of (besides bedrooms). They seem to have gotten used to the noise, but I'm worried about the scents from detergent and other cleaning products irritating their respiratory symptoms.

Yeah I can't imagine it being the best room to keep them in 😅 can they not live in your bedroom? I'm sure they would love to because they like to see you too

I know...I feel bad about it but it's tricky to find the right spot. I really wish my dog wasn't obsessed with them so we could have them in the living room or kitchen. The issue with having them in my room is that there is currently no space, plus I'm allergic to them unfortunately. Right now I have reptiles and birds in my room which take up all of the space, but I am planning on rehoming them since I didn't really intend to get them, I just wanted to rescue them from the crappy pet store I used to work at. Once I do that I would have space for the rats. I would probably just have to get an air purifier and be better at cleaning. I just turned 18 and am still living at home, but trying to figure out what my next steps are and how I can bring my ratties with me, so maybe they'll end up somewhere new entirely (with me of course, I could never give them up).
I kept my previous rats in our basement, but I much prefer having them on the main level of the house.
