In a large batch of rats, I saw a primarily white animal with vivid deep red eyes and a light golden brown "cape" on its hindquarters that stopped at the shoulders. There is no question that the eyes lack pigment and are representative of albinism.

I placed this interesting animal with a rat keeping friend, where it has proved to have quite a pleasant personality and is reported to be quiet, gentle and extremely tidy to the point of fussiness in its habits.

What is the term for this color mutation, if any? Is this the "red eyed dilution" gene?
