At that age it would be fairly normal for him to be balding. girls aren't affected nearly as much as boys.

Rats don't need baths, is humans just think they do lol. Unless they have something on thete coat that isn't safe for them to eat they are better off without baths as they strip natural oils from the coat and skin

It tends to thin over the rump first and then get patchy over the back but never fully bald and the head tends to stay covered
