For people who have hand-made hammocks, do you ever have problems with the rats chewing on the thread? I am hand sewing some hammocks and I am wondering if they pull on the thread, especially when the hammocks get used and washed a few times. I'd hate for them to get hurt by it.
Any advice on how to make them as safe as possible?
Thanks :)

I haven't hand sewn hammocks, but I am a seamstress. What material are you using? I imagine this to be true for all fabrics but especially so with fleece or anything thick- when you pull each stitch through there shouldn't be enough slack for the rats to get a handle (tooth) on. If it isn't that tight then I doubt it would stay together anyway. When you are done with a seam, try and get a grip on your thread with your fingernail. If you can grab it it would be best to do it again. Good luck!
