how true is it that rats shouldn't be kept on wood shavings?
i have kept mine on shavings since i brought them 6mnths ago, because they were kept on shavings in the pet shop!

i stumbled acroos the fact that apparently 'they shouldn't be kept on shavings due resp. problems because of dust' when i was resaerching for some treats they were allowed because my two seem to be getting bored with there food.

i buy shavings for horses stables because they have as little dust as possiblel

any help is greatful because i don't want to make my ratty friend ill! :(

Aspen shavings are fine, however you should try to find the least dusty type possible, some rats do have problems with it. Many do not.

Pine and cedar and other softwoods should never be used for small animals.
