How do you go about stopping your rat taking fresh stools of goodness on your shoulder or hands?

Babies tend to do that. They need to trust you for one thing, its going to take time.

They'll just stop after a while. My baby did that for a couple weeks, but she hasn't since. My adult male has never pooed on me, even when I just got him and he didn't know me and was a little nervous. So I think your rat will grow out of it ^_^

I had a female that wouldn't "go" on me but as soon as I put her down she'd go.

My girls used to when I first got them. I guess they learned I wasn't going to hurt them and after about a week they stopped.
