My hairless male rat got an eye ulcer a week and a half ago.

I've been doing the prescribed treatment (ointment into the eye). It is now the tenth day, which is the end of the prescribed regimen. Vet has told me to continue the meds to try and save his eye, the ulcer is still there.

And, the main issue is that his eye has shrunken into his head a bit. It's much smaller than normal. My vet told me they are unsure what could be causing the shrinkage.

I was just wondering if anyone else has any experience with shrinking eyes?

When eyes are dead and dry they shrink, but they have a pretty vivid appearance. How long has it been sunken? Maybe it's just in pain.

Not long after the ulcer appeared. It is not dead or dry, just tiny tiny, and it's way too small to be only pain- the structure of the eye is affected. There is white tissue visible on either side of the eye itself.

Color wise, it is normal.
