So A couple months ago one of my two girl rats died, and we didn't get any more because of activities until last Wednesday. She seemed like she was doing fine until about two days ago. She's been more lethargic, kinda hobbling and doesn't eat/drink much. Today we introduced the babies and her and she's still staying fairly still. No wheezing or anything, maybe some fast breathing. But I'm worried and we can't afford a vet visit currently. All she really does is stay in the upper level amin her little barn, in or on top. She hides a lot, and hasn't been taking treats from me. She's turning one later this month, so she's not that old. Help please?

If she is staying in her bed and not eating then there is definitely something wrong. Hard to say if it's depression or an illness from what you describe.
Has she ever been treated for URIs?

She does occasionally leave her bed but not much, and she'll eat if I give it to her, but she hasn't eaten from her bowl in days. And no, she's never been to a vet. She's always been one of my healthiest rats.

I'm just hoping it's not a URI. I understand from your first post that you cannot afford vet care at the moment but if she does have a respiratory infection and it's left untreated she will die.

Other ways to tell if a rat is sick and in pain are puffed up fur, squinting eyes and flattened whiskers.

How is she doing with the new babies you just introduced? Is she interested in them at all?

She wasn't particularly interested in them at all, wasn't mean, kinda just showed indifference kinda like they weren't there. And her fur is puffed up slightly. I'm looking into trying to get money for a vet checkup and meds if needed, me and my parents know medicine that was used to treat pneumonia and just a basic respiratory infection as one of our other rats (currently Deceased) had pneumonia.
