Hi, my little one has what the vet calls a chronic illness, she has been on medication on and off for about a year. I know she will never be 100% better but does anyone have any recommendations beyond the Baytril she is prescribed to make her comfortable?

We take her in the bathroom for occasional steam inhalation. We give her blueberries for the immunity help. I have read about echinacea, does anyone have experience with it?

Thank you

If her symptoms are still bad, why not try Baytril & Doxy long term?
I have used Echinacea and I do believe it helps to boost immunity. That's something that should be used intermittently though - like 1 week on 2 weeks off.
Have you tried Benadryl at all?

We did baytril doxy for a while, it didn't seem to work much better so the vet said if the results were the same to just do baytril due to cost (doxy is around $70 for 2wks) I have not tried benadryl

You can leave a humidifier running to make it easier to breathe.

A little bit of honey is good also if you notice your rat is sneezing or having more flare up symptoms than usual. I just dip my finger in it and let them lick it off.
